Road description:
The tunnel is a part of a little road: the Sensabaugh Hollow road. In fact, it allows crossing a little hill and a rail path is on the top of that tunnel.
History of the tunnel:
The tunnel was built in the early 1920s. The reputation of being a haunted place starts in the 1960s
Its tradition surrounds a specific family. Indeed, it was named after the man who owned the land, Edward Sensabaugh.
According to legends, the Sensabaugh Tunnel in Kingsport, Tennessee has a dark and eerie history. One version of the legend states that a homeless man was invited into the home of Edward Sensabaugh as an act of charity, but he attempted to steal jewelry and in the altercation, he kidnapped and drowned Edward’s baby daughter in the tunnel.
Another version states that Edward Sensabaugh went mad and killed his entire family, throwing their bodies into the tunnel. However, some claim that the most accurate version is that Edward Sensabaugh lived into his old age and none of his children died as babies. It is said that as Edward grew old, vandals, and teens would use the tunnel for their own enjoyment, and he would hide at one end of the tunnel and fill it with an eerie shriek, scaring off anyone hiding inside.
Legend has it that if one turns off their car engine in the middle of the tunnel, it will not switch back on. Some say you can also hear the baby’s cry and the approaching footsteps of Edward himself. Some have even claimed that when driving through the tunnel, the shadow of a woman appears in your car.
How to get to the Sensabaugh Tunnel?
In order to get there from Kingsport, you should take the 11W Highway to the west. Then, take the Lewin Ln road until you reach the Sensabaugh Hollow road. Then, the tunnel is located on this road.
You can also take the 23 Highway to the north until road 346. Then turn left on the Sensabaugh Hollow road.

Is the haunted tunnel in Tennessee Open?
The Hunted road in Tennessee is open all year round.
Although, the tunnel is often flooded. Also, it is not very wide, and you will only be able to pass with a medium-sized car.
