The Sensabaugh Tunnel is a road located near Kingsport in the state of Tennessee. Many stories of paranormal activity are related to this route. The inhabitants believe that it is a place haunted by evil and should be avoided at all costs. It is a place where there are demonic apparitions, where cars break and people hear strange noises such as screaming or crying.

The Sensabaugh Tunnel is one the most known haunted places in America (like the Zombie Road in Missouri) place located just off Big Elm Road in Kingsport, Tennessee. Even, most of the locals say that this place should be avoided at all costs as it is possessed by evil forces.

Facts about the Sensabaugh Tunnel

Road description:

The tunnel is a part of a little road: the Sensabaugh Hollow road. In fact, it allows to cross a little hill and a rail path is on the top of that tunnel.

Legend has it that if you shut off your car’s engine in the middle of the tunnel, it will not come back on. Likewise, the locals say that you can also hear the cries of babies and the footsteps of the former owner of the tunnel himself. Some have even claimed that as you walk through the tunnel, a woman’s shadow appears on your way.

History of the tunnel:

The tunnel was built in the early 1920s. The reputation of being a haunted place starts in the 1960s

Its tradition surrounds a specific family. Indeed, it was named after the man who owned the land, Edward Sensabaugh.

Legend tells that one day the farmer went crazy and for no reason and killed all of his family members and threw them near the tunnel.

Actually, even if many visitors report some shadows or other supernatural phenomena, there is no proof that it is more than just another local urban legend.

How to get to the Sensabaugh Tunnel?

The Sensabaugh Tunnel is located just off Big Elm Road in Kingsport, Tennessee.

In order to get there from Kingsport, you should take the 11W Highway to the west. Then, take the Lewin Ln road until you reach the Sensabaugh Hollow road. Then, the tunnel is located on this road.
You can also take the 23 Highway to the north until road 346. Then turn left on the Sensabaugh Hollow road.

Is the haunted tunnel in Tennessee Open?

The Hunted road in Tennessee is open all year round.

Although, the tunnel is often flooded. Also, it is not very wide and you will only be able to pass with a medium-sized car.
